The value of pipe #397 is 38 points.
Linda Sellman offered a group of three the pipe on eBay. The bidding was not too intense, probably because one of the pipes was in very poor condition. This one, though, was the pick of the litter. It is the first example I have of this shape/color combination and is a rare find. The finish has a few blemishes and the liner has been poorly cared for, but it stays in the collection until a better specimen comes my way. Bill Moore offered to exchange his Rare Woods for this one and, since his was a better example, I accepted his offer. We have made other deals that improved both our collections, but this was a really nice gesture on his part.
